Egg rolls and spring rolls are an easy way to serve at your next party.
If you haven’t noticed we love making pretty party food that is also quick and simple. We have no problem using pre-made food if it tastes great, sometimes it is the perfect way to feed a bunch of people without losing our minds. The best party planning advice I ever got was “You don’t have to do everything yourself.” (thanks Mom!). This year for New Year’s Eve we’re having a little get-together and instead of adding more things to our growing holiday to-do lists we decided to keep it casual and go with a restaurant-inspired Asian food theme.
The pressure is off as far as cooking goes. Tai Pei makes some awesome egg rolls and spring rolls. All we have to do is run to Walmart and grab a few boxes from the frozen food section and then bake them in the oven before the party. Their egg rolls and spring rolls come out crispy on the outside and with a little crunch to the fresh cut veggies on the inside, just like what you would get at your favorite restaurant. They also have several different varieties, shrimp, pork, chicken, veggie, so there is something for everyone.
Each box comes with dipping sauce too, but Melinda is whipping up a few of her own sauces for people to try. She’s making a peanut sauce, a spicy mayo sauce, and an Asian dressing.
With the food taken care of we get to focus on a pretty presentation. We’re making an Asian slaw by tossing store bought slaw mix with the Asian dressing and we are serving the egg rolls and spring rolls over it. The spring rolls are smaller so they get a cute little wooden fork in them. The egg rolls are cut in half so you can see that yummy filling.
I love the hustle and bustle of the holiday season but I am really looking forward to a low-key party to ring in the New Year. Tai Pei can do the cooking and we can sit back and relax with friends and family!
